There’s little public information about how much space WeWork occupies in individual markets, but its 10K for 2023 states that on a square foot basis in the fourth quarter of 2022, the company accounted for 23% of all commercial leasing office activity in New York City, with comparable proportions in Boston, Miami, London, and Dublin. WeWork’s demise is bad news for those cities. If I were a major building owner, I’d want to know my exposure.
